Mission Impossible???? NOT

Today I went on my first "on my own" outing using my walker. The above picture is my house. (The house on the corner) And my first "pit stop" was when I crossed the street. My goal was to check my mail. I knew it would be a challenge with crossing the street. What if a car comes? Would they get impatient as they waited for me to cross? But none of that happened..LOL Getting over curbs, and the inclines were a little challenging, but my biggest challenge was the incline to get back to my garage. However, I am SO thrilled to say that I did it!! Oh and it was cool that I actually had mail to retrieve. haha If you think you CAN'T you won't. If you KNOW you CAN you WILL!! I even got to talk to a gentleman who inquired about my condition. I told him a little about Transverse Myelitis, and I said, "This is my first trip out on my own with the walker, as I am normally in a wheelchair. He asked me how long ago. I said "17 years this May, and I told him what the specialist told me. That, not only would I NEVER walk again, but that I would need full time care for the rest of my life." You should have seen the look on his face. I couldn't help but be reminded of this bible verse in Matthew 19:26..... And looking at them Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Nancy!!!! I want to tell you how much I love and appreciate you. I know you are just as excited as I am about graduation day. However, it is bitter sweet as I look ahead and realize that day might not be that far into my future. :)
