ABOUT ME

Vahen King is an author, speaker, life coach, and ordained minister, but states, that her platform for ministry is everywhere she sets her foot. Being crowned the first ever Miss Wheelchair Canada in 2017, she sees that in ways she never had before. However, don't let those titles scare you. Vahen is just a normal girl walking in obedience with her heavenly father the best she knows how.

Vahen has been in a wheelchair since May of 1999 due to a medical condition called Transverse Myelitis. She was in the prime of her life and recently engaged, when she lost her health and independence. Life as she knew it changed forever. However, her biggest question was, "Did she still have a fiance?" With a resounding, "YES! I still want you," from the love of her life, Vahen fought to adapted to her life and surroundings as a Person with a Disability.

For the longest time, Vahen doubted her abilities and self-worth. She portrayed confidence as she was trying to cope with her "new normal," but feelings of self-doubt and unworthiness consumed her. Reaching a point of desperation, she realized that she had a choice to make, to be paralyzed by her fears and insecurities, or push forward.

Vahen has been noted by her peers as being a fire starter, with courage that is contagious. When you hear Vahen speak, you will sense her unwavering confidence and her fiery grit. You will laugh, cry and hope with Vahen, as she shares stories about her own struggles of abilities and self-worth. These compelling stories set the stage for her ultimate call to action, to encourage others to lean into discomfort, ditch our “I can’t” mentalities, and choose courage to overcome your own emotional and physical challenges. Vahen also acknowledges, that the only way this is possible, is if we are willing focus our lives on God and be rooted in Him.

"Who is this one? Look at her now! She arises out of her desert of difficulty, clinging to her Beloved." â€‹Songs of Solomon 8:5

Vahen feels that all the events in our lives —both good and bad— give us amazing opportunities to prove God's awesome power and faithfulness. Vahen believes that God has called her to help others walk in obedience with Him, even when what's ahead looks nothing like what they had planned.

Vahen currently lives with her amazing husband Vaughan, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and considers it a true honor and privilege to share her story with the world.
